Paul Harris Fellow Award Presentation June 25, 2012
Today our club has the honour of presenting a Paul Harris Fellow Award.
The Paul Harris Fellow is named after Paul Harris, who founded Rotary with three business associates in 1905. The Paul Harris Fellow scheme was established in 1957 to express appreciation for a contribution of $1,000 U.S. to the humanitarian and educational programs of the Rotary Foundation.
These programs include an array of projects that save and invigorate the lives of people around the world and enhance international friendship and understanding. Foundation programs provide educational opportunities, food, potable water, health care, immunisations and shelter for millions of people in many countries.
These programs are funded, implemented and managed by Rotarians and Rotary Clubs around the world. Rotarians may also designate a Paul Harris Fellow to recognise another person whose life demonstrates a shared purpose with the objectives and mission of the Rotary Foundation to build world understanding and peace.
Today we, the Rotary Club of Windsor, recognise Sarah "Lee" Lewis of Mermaid Theatre as a Paul Harris Fellow in special appreciation for the ways in which her life exemplifies the humanitarian and educational objectives of The Rotary Foundation.
This Rotary Club thanks Sara "Lee" Lewis for demonstrating in her life and vocation a commitment to helping others.
Therefore it gives me great pleasure and honour to present Sara "Lee" Lewis, on behalf of the Trustees of the Rotary Foundation, these emblems of a Paul Harris Fellow; the certificate, pin and medallion. The certificate states that Sara "Lee" Lewis has been named a Paul Harris Fellow, "in appreciation of tangible and significant assistance given for the furtherance of better understanding and friendship between peoples of the World".
Please accept our sincere appreciation for your commitment to our common goals of World understanding and peace.
Rotarians please join with me in recognising our newest Paul Harris Fellow, Sara "Lee" Lewis.
